It would seem that there is nothing easier than to thread a needle. But it is not always possible to do this quickly - either vision fails, then the thread turns out to be of poor quality and splits into a hundred villi, then the ear is too small. However, professional seamstresses know many ways to cope with this task without much effort.
Special devices
In sewing factories, where every minute of working time is expensive, needle threaders are used. These are small devices consisting of a wooden or plastic handle and a diamond-shaped eyelet made of wire. In work, they are simple to indecent:
- First you need to pass the loop through the eye of the needle - this is not difficult, since the loop is solid enough and does not slip.
- Then insert the tip of the thread into the loop.
- Pull the loop back - along with it the thread will pass through the eye.
Once from the third or fourth, these actions will be brought to automaticity, and you can perform them in a matter of seconds.
Another way to tighten the thread into the needle, which is inserted into the sewing machine, involves the use of tweezers. It is enough to cut off the tip (if you break it off, it will turn out to be disheveled), at a distance of 2-3 mm from the cut, grab the thread with tweezers, bring it to the place where the eyelet is located, and move it in different directions. The thread itself will slip into the desired hole, after which it will remain to manually stretch the end more authentically.
On the palm
A very simple way that suits people with low vision or poorly developed fine motor skills. All that is needed:
- Put a thread on the palm of your left hand.
- Take the needle in the right hand.
- Vigorously rub the needle with the ear on the thread.
- Under the influence of friction, the thread will begin to form loops, one of which by itself will slip through the eye. When this happens, you need to stretch it to the desired length.
Useful Tips
Visually impaired people have to sew a lot. In this case, both the needle threader and the tweezers are not particularly convenient, since they still require good vision, and twisting the thread in the palm takes a relatively long time. The way out is the purchase of patent needles. They differ from ordinary ones in the design of the eyelet - it is not continuous, but consists of two parts. It is enough to put the thread on top and pull down so that it slides inward. But she will not get outside in the same way, since it is securely fixed.
If the inability to quickly thread the needle is due to the fact that the cut is quickly shaggy, this can be fixed with a candle. Dip the end of the thread in melted wax or paraffin and quickly stretch between your fingers - the fibers will be impregnated and will be as if glued together. In addition, such a thread becomes harder, does not slip, and it is easier to thread through a tiny hole.
Choose high-quality threads and needles with a convenient (thin, but oblong) eye - this will greatly facilitate the process of threading the thread into the needle.
