A warm house means a comfortable house, ideal for year-round use. The modern construction market gives each of us the opportunity in the widest range of materials for insulation to find exactly the option that will be most affordable and optimal - in terms of quality characteristics. However, in the list of thermal insulation technologies familiar to owners of private buildings, such an advantageous and very convenient option as warming a house with ecowool is still not common. This can be explained, first of all, by the fact that ecowool on the Russian market is a relative “novice”, its own production in our country began only in the mid-90s of the last century. However, the "advanced" homeowners have already managed to appreciate the indisputable advantages of this insulation technology.
The main advantages of ecowool
Such an insulating material as ecowool, almost eighty percent consists of cellulose fibers with the addition of borax and boric acid (these additives significantly improve the performance of the insulation).
The most important plus of ecowool is excellent thermal insulation and the ability to make the insulation layer uniform and almost seamless. Another advantage is high fire safety (this material can be called ideal for walls, floors, as well as for the roof of a residential building).
For many owners of private houses, such a characteristic of eco-wool, as its high resistance to rot, to the emergence of various fungus-damaging walls, also becomes attractive. In addition, such material is extremely unattractive to rodents. Moreover, according to the last parameter, eco-wool will be much better than other, very popular material today - stone, or mineral wool.
Among the advantages of ecowool, one can not fail to note a good absorption of moisture. Moreover, when even a significant amount of moisture is absorbed, the thermal insulation characteristics of the material remain still high.
Starting construction (especially if you plan to build a frame house) - it is worth paying attention to the above advantages of ecowool. In a wooden residential building, such a heater will help to create the optimal microclimate and humidity level in the rooms, which is very important for a comfortable stay.
An important rule: if you insulate an ecowool frame house, insulate the floor or walls in a wooden building, make sure that excess moisture can freely leave the insulation material. Otherwise, ecowool is simply oversaturated with moisture. That is why this type of material is not recommended when conducting thermal insulation work for the basement, as well as floors over the basement - because the humidity level here will always be quite high.
Laying ecowool on walls or floors
You can insulate the floor with this material in several ways. There are industrial technologies that involve spraying the material (slightly moistened) using special devices directly on the wall or on the floor surface. Thus, a frame house or other types of buildings are insulated as quickly and efficiently as possible. There is also the so-called “dry” method of warming walls or floors with ecowool: the material with this technology is mounted using powerful compressors.
In addition to industrial methods, there are options for manual insulation. You can independently insulate a small frame house - but get ready for the fact that with manual work the material consumption and the amount of time spent will be slightly more.
Wet mounting method
Step 1. For thermal insulation of the floor surface, the space between the lags is filled with a heater, if the wall surface is insulated, a frame of wooden bars is arranged (it can also be made of a metal profile).
Step 2 Fluffy cotton wool is wetted with water with a lingin (a small amount) - and using special compressor equipment, under pressure, it is fed to the surface.
Step 3 If ecowool is applied to complex surfaces, or with its help various suspended structures are insulated, lingin and special adhesives are added to the water to moisten the material. They will contribute to better adhesion of the material to the surface. Additional adhesives must be added if you insulate the entire frame house - including the ceiling surface.
Step 4 Excess ecowool is removed by level (cut off), the excess insulation is dried, after which it can be reused (that is, ecowool is a material for non-waste work).
Dry installation method
Warming a frame house, you can also use the technology of "dry" installation of ecowool. It is suitable for thermal insulation of walls in a wooden house, for floor insulation, etc.
Step 1. Eco-wool should be fluffed using an ordinary drill with a special nozzle used to mix a variety of mortars. At the same time, the volume of material that is usually supplied in compressed form increases approximately three times. When laying the insulation material should be well tamped until the cotton wool begins to absorb the forces.
Step 2 The insulation of the floor or walls is carried out using a compressor. The fluffed material is pumped over the entire surface onto the finished crate, which is equipped in the same way as with the "wet" thermal insulation technology. The crate is previously completely covered with kraft paper, you can also use film, casing materials. A hole is made at the top of the finished structure, a supply hose is installed in it - and under pressure, the cotton wool is blown until the entire surface is filled. The insulation density is normally 45 kg / m3, on the floor surface at an average winter temperature of -23-25 degrees Celsius, ecowool is laid in a layer of 18-20 cm.
Nuances of insulation ecowool
It should be noted that the disadvantages of ecowool building insulation technology are a minimum. First of all, this is that when warming your apartment building with this material, you will need to rent or purchase special equipment. Neither “wet” nor “dry” insulation of the ceiling, walls or floors can do without it. Also, an insignificant minus can be considered that with the “wet” method of warming with ecowool for complete drying of the material it will be necessary to wait several days. But in general, a frame cottage or other types of residential buildings insulated using this environmentally friendly material will be comfortable, a good microclimate will be created in the buildings. Undoubtedly, it is also important that eco-vata is one of the most economical options for insulation. Therefore, in order to make a small country house warm, this is the technology that will be the best choice.
